National Science Week
Where is it: Nationwide
What's it all about: Running annually over a week during August, Science Week is an annual celebration and promotion of all things science! It hopes to acknowledge all those achievements in science and also provide an opportunity to encourage involvement in science!
How can I join in: Heaps of events are scheduled throughout the week! You might expect that every university will have something planned, but it would also be worthwhile checking out museums, libraries and schools!
Tell me more: Our little kids love seeing science shows! There are heaps of events on through the week and it's almost guaranteed that museums will have something planned - previously we've been along to great events at Redlands Museum and the Queensland Museum! There are always heaps of hands on activities and experiments (can't have science week without experiments!) and explanation for the kids - through science week activities they've built bridges, kites, giant bubbles, seen some really cool experiments and have even had the chance look at the moon! We always try to get along to see as many events during Science Week as we can - the hardest thing to do is to plan out our week so that we can fit everything in! And while you're not tied up with the science displays museums are always great value for the kids with all their normal displays!
