Where is it: Toombul Shopping Centre, 1015 Sandgate Rd, Toombul, Queensland, 4012
What’s it all about: A wonderful carnival-style lesuire-tainment arcade for the whole family where you just cannot stop having fun!
Tell me more: Everyone loves a carnival, and now there’s no need to wait for it to roll into town - Archie Bros Cirque Electriq is the perfect entertainment stop and it’s permanently located conveniently in Toombul Shopping Centre! There are heaps of arcade and ticket games, ten-pin bowling, dodge-ems and a fantastic carnival atmosphere. Add to that a cocktail and menu that’s second to none, and you are bound to be in for a great time whenever you visit!
We went along for their official launch - it was everything that we expected and more! So much fun and the food and drinks were wonderful. This will definitely be a very popular place for Christmas parties and functions and the upcoming school holidays!
Opening Night (Nov-2019)
Where is it: Tenancy 2, Seven Eleven- Rothwell Village, Cnr Deception Bay & Morris Road, Rothwell plus heaps of locations all across Australia!
Why we love it: An Aussie twist on mouth-watering Portuguese flavours!
Tell me more: Just over 30 years ago, Oporto’s founder was missing the flavours of his native Portugal and ended up creating a wonderful and successful Australia-wide franchise sharing the amazing flavours Portuguese grilled chicken! One menu item stands out in this story - the iconic 'Bondi Burger' with its super tasty grilled chicken and special sauce - it's a perfect statement for Australia as it was derived from a fusion of cultures but it is uniquely Aussie! But it’s not just burgers here, they sell a wide range of products including chicken pieces, their very own special sauces, salads, brekky and coffee and also scrumptious desserts.
The Oporto Restaurant in Rothwell, just to the north of Brisbane, is a little bit younger, celebrating their first birthday in 2019! We joined them for their celebrations as they gave away free burgers to everyone! Oporto Restaurants are a fantastic Australian success story and no doubt this location here in Rothwell will be celebrating many more birthdays in the years to come.
Where is it: Parkyn Parade, Mooloolaba, Sunshine Coast
Why we love it: It’s a really interesting marine park set in wonderful Mooloolaba!
Tell me more: A family trip to the Sunshine Coast is not complete without visiting SEALIFE Sunshine Coast (formerly Underwater World) - an awesome little aquarium and marine park! For almost 30 years Sea Life Sunshine Coast has been educating and entertaining with their magnificent collection of marine animals - there are a number of different tanks which house all sorts of different creatures – from star fish, jelly fish, all sorts of marine and freshwater fish, seals, otters, crocodiles and sharks. There are so many different things to see in the range of different aquariums and the magnificent glass-covered walkway underneath the shark tank - including 3 very impressive grey nurse sharks called ‘Pallas’, ‘Patchy’ and ‘Huey’. In December 2019 we welcomed some new arrivals to SEALIFE – the Little Blue Penguin zone houses a colony of little blue penguins (also known as fairy penguins). And it’s not just looking, you can also touch some of the star fish, feed a seal or even (if you’re game), go diving with sharks!
School holidays are even more fun as SEALIFE regularly put on special themed exhibitions and events for these peak times – you can check out some of the exhibits that we've visited here.
We love aquariums, and this one is great fun for all the family - it’s always a lovely and fun atmosphere, and it’s definitely worthy of a visit!
Amenities: Good amenities as expected, including a couple of food options! 👍👍👍
Parking: Parking available but this place (especially during the holidays) gets busy! 👍👍
Access: Good access throughout the facility! 👍👍👍👍
Best for: It's great for the whole family – the little guys will absolutely love the themed exhibits! 👍👍👍👍
Summary: One of our favourite places to visit – great for sparking an interest of marine life in the minds of our little guys! 👍👍👍👍
Hints: Plan your visit – the layout could be a little confusing on your first visit and you don’t want to miss anything!

New Sharks at Sea Life (April 2018)
Where is it: 111 Constance Street, Fortitude Valley, 4006
Why we love it: A modern take on a pub classic!
Tell me more: The wonderful old building on Constance St in Fortitude Valley has been transformed into a fantastic bar with a little something that makes it stand out from the crowd - it’s a darts bar! Inside you will see that it has been tastefully fitted out while maintaining a lot of the charm of the old structure, and the darts booths are all electronic - so there’s no need to keep track of scores! Darts is the perfect old-school pub game, and Oche (pronounced “ockey”) has combined it perfectly with a fantastically atmosphered bar. Although the focus of Oche is darts, this 18+ venue would have no problem existing on its own with an amazing drinks menu and the meals are second to none. Oche is heaps of fun and one of those spots that you will just have to get to!
Where is it: All over the Ipswich City Region

Just grab your compatible phone or tablet, find one of the festive pavement stickers and watch your world come to life with festive cheer! You might see Rudolf, a Christmas tree could spring up out of the pavement or you might even see Santa himself!
