What’s it all about: An awesome burger restaurant with not-so-awesome service!

But it's not just a fun experience, the food here is amazing with hand-crafted burgers of all types, perfectly spicy wings, and fantastic cocktails! This is one dining experience that you just have to try out, just be ready for 100% rude service and have some fun!
Where is it: Tenancy 2, Seven Eleven- Rothwell Village, Cnr Deception Bay & Morris Road, Rothwell plus heaps of locations all across Australia!
Why we love it: An Aussie twist on mouth-watering Portuguese flavours!
Tell me more: Just over 30 years ago, Oporto’s founder was missing the flavours of his native Portugal and ended up creating a wonderful and successful Australia-wide franchise sharing the amazing flavours Portuguese grilled chicken! One menu item stands out in this story - the iconic 'Bondi Burger' with its super tasty grilled chicken and special sauce - it's a perfect statement for Australia as it was derived from a fusion of cultures but it is uniquely Aussie! But it’s not just burgers here, they sell a wide range of products including chicken pieces, their very own special sauces, salads, brekky and coffee and also scrumptious desserts.
The Oporto Restaurant in Rothwell, just to the north of Brisbane, is a little bit younger, celebrating their first birthday in 2019! We joined them for their celebrations as they gave away free burgers to everyone! Oporto Restaurants are a fantastic Australian success story and no doubt this location here in Rothwell will be celebrating many more birthdays in the years to come.
Where is it: 46 James Street AM5, Ada Lane, Fortitude Valley
What’s it all about: A stand-out restaurant in one of Brisbane’s premiere boutique shopping and dining districts!
Tell me more: James Street is a very impressive are here in Brisbane, with an eclectic mix of classy and boutique shopping and dining options. So it could be seen to be difficult to stamp your mark here - but it’s something that Beaux Rumble has managed to do in an impressive fashion! Beaux Rumble combines a chef in Alan Wise who boasts experience in some of the finest michelin-starred restaurants with a fantastically designed and presented location and created something wonderful. This restaurant just oozes class, and even though this is an upscale establishment, it still remains a place where you can casually relax.
The dishes here at Beaux Rumble replicate the fantastic fusion of the restaurant - perfectly presented dishes that taste absolutely wonderful, and extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff can explain the dishes, recommend options and perfectly pair your dish with one of the fantastic range of drinks. Portion size is well arranged and again the staff are happy to suggest the perfect combination of appetisers, entrees and mains (as well as desserts!). Adding to the amazing layers of flavours contained within the dishes themselves, the cooking here is done over wood-fire, with different, carefully selected timbers providing not only the fuel, but also imparting their flavour touch to the dishes through their smokes and aromas.
We feasted upon a fantastic combination and the dishes were all so impressive - it was hard to choose a standout. A lovely bread (shaped like a kernel of wheat) called Pain D’ Epi and made from spent beer grain got us going before moving onto entrees of a roast quail and grilled scallops which we couldn’t get enough of, but equally (as a good entree should) they made the thought of the main course even more enticing! The mains we had were both cooked to perfection over the wood - scampi and sirloin and oh so yummy! We finished off with a rhubarb and vanilla custard for dessert!
Dining at Beaux Rumble was a fantastic experience - a wonderful setting, atmosphere, service and above all, amazing food. Open for lunch Fridays and Saturdays and for dinner Tuesdays to Saturdays.
Where is it: 10/1 Eagle St, Brisbane City - right by the river!
What’s it all about: Not just fantastic coffee, but a wonderful menu and atmosphere makes this the perfect place to meet!
Tell me more: The Coffee Club is a stand-out Brisbane success story! Since its conception here in 1989, The Coffee Club has grown into Australia’s largest cafe group and has even spread internationally. Its philosophy of ‘Good Food, Great Service and Excellent Coffee’ sums it up quite well, but fails to mention The Coffee Club’s wonderful and relaxed atmosphere, which is well known throughout its cafes.
We were very fortunate to attend the 30th birthday celebrations of Brisbane’s very first The Coffee Club, which is right on the river at Eagle St Pier, and it’s sporting a brand new look and feel. The new look does nothing to upset The Coffee Club’s perfect balance between casual and classy, and no doubt it’s still going to be the standard answer to the question “Where will I meet you” for many more years to come!
Where is it: 40 Edward St, Brisbane City
Why we love it: One of Brisbane’s fantastic heritage listed pubs that is comfortable and inviting and maintains is historic charm (plus it has wonderful food)!
Tell me more: Like many old buildings, Brisbane’s Port Office Hotel has seen more than its fair share of ups and downs, most recently in January 2019 when what was thought to be a small fire took hold in the restaurant. This ‘small’ fire turned out to be quite a bit more significant than was first thought – it had found its way into the ceiling and caused a huge amount of damage to the whole building. It took owners Nick and Meagan Gregorski seven months to rebuild, relying on a lot of hard work and all the while still maintaining a small part of the hotel to their loyal patrons. Now all that is behind them and this wonderful pub and restaurant is as magnificent as it has ever been! Tastefully refurbished and comfortably furnished, it still exudes its heritage charm. The Port Office is now fully re-opened with public bar as inviting as would be expected and a new menu awaits (with a few dishes that they couldn’t say goodbye to) in the restaurant. This is a fantastic example of Brisbane’s heritage and is a must visit to get a feel for this city’s culture (and a great meal)!

Oikos’ coffees are just wonderful, but you can also choose from a lovely menu of healthy and tasty meal options, or a range fantastically colourful fresh juices which are hard to pass up! We tried out a couple of the bowls that they have on offer which are packed full of healthy fruit, grains and yoghurt – super tasty and the little guys loved them! And to complement the lovely atmosphere and tasty food, the service was fantastic too! Oikos is a lovely little café in the heart of Ipswich and it’s well worth stopping by!

Why we love it: Super yummy Turkish cuisine in a lovely relaxed setting!
Tell me more: We love Turkish food! Turkey’s geographical location and seemingly endless history have created a wonderful and varied array of flavours – as such we love visiting Turkish restaurants whenever we get the chance, and Caravanserai didn’t disappoint! The restaurant has a lovely and welcoming atmosphere which immediately transports you from a leafy Brisbane suburb to the crossroads of civilisations. Their share plates are a magnificent sample of flavours and are gaining a reputation of their own – we couldn’t ignore the flavours on offer and tried a share plate for two which consisted of a mouth-watering combination of beef, chicken, seafood, vegetables, rice, cheese and bread which was super tasty and the perfect way to both experience Turkish food and what this restaurant has on offer! Caravanserai is open for dinner on Tuesday to Sunday nights and for lunch on Fridays and Saturdays.

Situated in the leafy and hilly suburb of Paddington, this lovely café, housed in a traditional Queenslander-style store, is a fantastic place to dine!
