What's it all about: Very authentic and extremely tasty Chinese New Year celebrations in Brisbane!
Tell me more: Being home to a huge number of Asian ex-pats, Sunnybank has a deserved reputation of being the centre of Asian culture here in Brisbane! And because of this, deciding on a place to join in on Chinese New Years (CNY) celebration was an easy choice! Not only do they have a great week long program of fun celebrations in the lead up to Chinese New Year, they also have a fantastic Roof Top Party as well with one of the biggest CNY fireworks displays in Australia! Add to that lion dances, a pop-up Asian laneway of yummy foods, tea houses, crafts and beauty salons! And if that's not enough to tempt you, there are fantastic live music acts planned! So definitely, Sunnybank is the place to celebrate CNY!
In the lead-up to CNY we went along to see some of the week-long celebrations put on at Sunnybank plaza! There's always awesome food at Sunnybank and it was probably even better for their Chinese New Year celebrations! So along with the yummy food, we got to see the always amazing lion dances and music, tai chi displays, some lovely vegetable carvings and we also got to do a little bit of art and craft! Such a lovely day out and a great way for the little guys to experience a little bit of Chinese New Year celebrations!

What's it all about: A super yummy Japanese restaurant with an interesting twist!
Tell me more: We love trying out cuisines from around the world and one of our favourite types is Japanese! On the hunt for some Japanese with a little bit of a difference we came across Pepper Lunch, which has just opened a new restaurant in Sunnybank Plaza! It's a really well presented restaurant and it has a little surprise in store - sizzle! The food is served on special hot iron plates and continues to cook (or sizzle) as it's served! They also have some really cool self serve counters - the first of their type in Australia (or a waiter will assist) so it's a simple process to get your food ordered! You can choose from sizzling steaks, pastas, curry rice or their signature pepper rice! But certainly one of the standout dishes (for our sweet-toothed little guys at least!) was the super impressive (and sizzling) Volcano Waffle dessert! So yummy! Pepper Lunch is definitely one of our new favourite family restaurants!
