Where is it: Various locations, Moreton Bay Region
What's it all about: A free event put on by Moreton Bay Regional Council - just for fun!
How can I join in: Come along to the park with your favourite teddy bear and be prepared to have fun!
Tell me more: Moreton Bay Region's Teddy Bears Picnic is a really fun and popular event for little kids! Aimed at kids under school age, there's lots of entertainment and activities on offer - it's a great way to get your little ones out and about in a safe and relaxed setting. The jumping castle was hard to get past - so much fun and it was great for the little kids to have one all to themselves without sharing with the older kids! There was more than just that on offer with a baby animal farm, face painting heaps of art and craft and of course teddy bears were everywhere, including a nice little teddy bear parade! There was even free teddy bear biscuits and fruit for our picnic! This annual event takes place in different locations so make sure you check out the details of the event - and make sure you check out what the theme is for the day! A really nice day out for the little ones!

Where is it: There are two racecourses side by side in Ascot – Eagle Farm (230 Lancaster Rd, Ascot) and Doomben (75 Hampden St, Ascot), they are separated by Nudgee Rd
What's it all about: Race days are always fun and great for the kids to get up close to the horses - they're even better when they have a family focus!
How can I join in: Put on your best fashions (or as the theme of the day would call for) and head along to enjoy a day out at the races!
Tell me more: A day at the races is always a fun and social day out and every time that we have been, our little guys just marvel at the horses - there's just something about them, the kids could watch them for hours! So add in a few family and kid-friendly touches and you're on to a sure fire winner! There are a couple of Brisbane Racing Club family-focused days that we have been to - Superhero Saturday and Teddy Bear's Picnic - both at Doomben Racecourse (BRC also manages Eagle Farm Racecourse, just across the road). Superhero Saturday is also a fund-raising event for the Starlight Foundation with a portion of the entrance fee going directly to this great organisation.
The days themselves are proper race days, just with a specially designated area for families. There are rides and activities, special guests, family food packages and even junior fashions on the field! Best of all, there are heaps of like-minded families there to socialise with, and plenty of other kids to play with! But the best reaction that we get from the kids is when the horses race past - the little guys are completely amazed at these awesome animals! You can also go for a wander past the stables and check them out in a more peaceful state! Overall, these days are lots of fun, and are a great way to get out as a family!
