Where is it: At Westfield Chermside, 395 Hamilton Rd, Chermside QLD 4032
Why we love it: The thrill of a free-fall without the heights!
Tell me more: iFly is an indoor skydiving centre and it’s one of those things that you just have to do! And it’s so easy to get into - it’s situated in the city at one of Brisbane’s most popular shopping complexes and all you have to do is book your time slot, turn up an hour earlier for your briefing and to get kitted up and then start flying - no experience is needed! It’s basically a big glass tube that forces huge amounts of air through it so that you can fly. The speed of the air is controlled and adjusted so that you get just the right amount of lift and keep you airborn and you always have an expert skydiver with you guiding and assisting as you require.
We went along on a family pass (which is great value) and we all had a go - even our little 4 year old tried it and we all had a fantastic time! And as fun as the basic flying was, the High Flight was even more amazing as your instructor will carry you up (and bring you down) right to the top of the tube! Once you get a taste of it you will want more, and iFLY also offers training programs so that you can build up your skills and have even more fun. It’s also the perfect spot for parties or group functions. iFLY Chermside is open Open 7 days a week from 9am - 10pm.
Skydiving Santa, Surfers Paradise
Where is it: Surfers Paradise Beach, opposite Soul Boardwalk
How can I join in: You can meet Santa and his reindeer on the beach for a photo in the lead up to Christmas - check out the link for more details!
Tell me more: Having Christmas in summer means that we have to do things a little differently here in Queensland! We have a distinct lack of snow here which means that Santa can't really get around on a sleigh. But he's more than happy to skydive onto the beach, which is just as exciting as a reindeer powered sleigh! Such a fun sight for the kids, and the Surfers Paradise Beach is the perfect place to welcome Santa and a couple of his reindeer friends!
