Where is it: Various locations, winter 2022 is at Northshore Hamilton
Why we love it: Putt putt with a Pixar theme – what more needs to be said?!
Tell me more: Mini golf has been a family favourite since, well, forever! So add in the theme of one of the most popular family animated franchises of the last 25 years (yes, Pixar movies have been around that long!) you know that it’s going to be a fun event. Work your way through 9 or 18 holes of fantastically modelled scenarios, all based on Pixar movies – The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Up, Monsters, Inside out, Cars, Wall-E, Bugs Life, Ratatouille, Coco, Soul, Onward and new films Turning Red and Lightyear are all covered, and Toy Story is represented as well. We had so much fun playing with the kids, the holes have some wonderful challenging elements which the little guys loved, and it’s just as much fun for the grown-ups as well. So much so that there are special sessions on the weekends where Pixar Putt is reserved for the over 18s only. This one is definitely one to check out, but hurry – it’s only here for a limited time, this season here in Brisbane is finishing up on 24 July 2022!

Where is it: King George Square, Brisbane City What's it all about: It's a short movie projected onto the outside City Hall!
How can I join in: Every 15 minutes they show the same little story - so just roll on up to King George Square any time after 7:30pm in the lead-up to Christmas to join in the fun of Christmas in the City!
Tell me more: The City Hall Lights Spectacular is a real spectacle! It’s such a nice way to end your night after watching the wonderful Christmas Parade through Queen Street Mall - you can join in behind the parade for a fun march down to King George Square, or just roll on up at your own leisure to see this fun little animated movie! The movie is told specifically for Brisbane - composed to be projected directly onto our own City Hall and is always really engaging and great for all ages! It's only a short film - only 7 or 8 minutes long and starts every 15 minutes so there's no need to worry if you turn up half way through! Definitely one of the must see Christmas events in the city!
Where is it: All over Australia - here in Brisbane it's on at King George Square in the city!
What's it all about: Ice skating in Brisbane? Yes! That's right! Skating At set up pop-up ice skating rinks in many of Australia's cities, and Brisbane doesn't miss out!
Tell me more: Seeing an open ice skating rink here in Brisbane is definitely not an everyday occurrence, so when one does pop-up in the winter holidays, you just know that it's going to be popular! And for good reason - our winter days here in Brissy are generally beautiful and clear and not to cold, and although it may be a bit of a novelty to most of us here, it is so much fun! For those of non-skaters, it's a fantastic activity for the little kids and with a few pointers they will have picked it up and in no time most likely they will have surpassed us parents! So book in ahead - sessions are 45 minutes and include skate hire. For the little guys there are also 'Kanga' skating aids which they can use for support, or sit on and be pushed around - there's also an awesome ramp - the 'Runway' - that you can slide down in a rubber tube (if you're game), and food and drinks available too! Such a fun activity and a fantastic little change from the ordinary!
Where is it: All over Australia!
What's it all about: Join in with local governments, businesses or schools for a flag raising ceremony!
Tell me more: On September 3, 1901 the Australian Flag was raised for the first time, and every year on its anniversary date we can join in on a celebration of this event! It’s just a simple little ceremony but it’s an opportunity for everyone to show their pride in our flag! You will find events all over Australia with schools, government buildings and businesses taking part – Brisbane City Council holds a ceremony at King George Square with the members from the Australian Defence Force helping out and there are also a few musical performances!

What's it all about: An amazing, fun and free festival bringing the tastes, the sights and the sounds of South Korea to Brisbane!
Tell me more: Be transported to South Korea through this wonderful festival which displays many different aspects of both traditional and contemporary Korean culture! As with many cultural festivals here in Brisbane there is an abundance of food options offering you a sample of authentic cuisine while you take in traditional dance performances through to modern K-pop! The kids aren’t forgotten either as there are craft activities, taekwondo displays and you can even learn some k-pop dance moves! Lots of fun for the whole family!
