Where is it: Heaps of locations all over the country! See the website for more details!
When: 31 July (schools might have activities earlier)
What's it all about: Promoted by PlanetArk, Tree Day encourages people of all ages and walks of life to get outside, enjoy nature and give back by planting a native tree!
How can I join in: There are lots of community or school events planned. Find out more by checking out the website. If you can't join in to any of the planned events, there nothing to stop you from planting a native tree in your own backyard (or even in a pot!).
Tell me more: National Tree Day is a great initiative to promote a healthy environment by holding tree planting activities! There are lots of organised activities which will give you plenty of help in properly planting our native trees. Some of the things that we have learnt - first pull out the weeds - you can't have weeds growing over your little trees! We have also learnt about the animals that will be attracted to the trees - great for encouraging a healthy ecosystem! And finally planting our trees, making sure that they are native and that they had lots of water for a good start! Hopefully all the trees we have planted grow up to be big and strong and create lots of habitat for our native animals! It's a really fun day for little kids!
