Where is it: Powerhouse, New Farm
What's it all about: A really nice arts facility on the bank of the Brisbane River (and adjacent to New Farm Park!) that exhibits both art and theater and also runs really fun and interactive sessions just for the little (0-5yrs) kids!
How can I join in: Just turn up, get involved and have fun! Check the website to see what's on, or simply stop by and have a relaxing cuppa while looking out over the river!
Tell me more: Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm is housed in an old power station building right next to New Farm Park. Here they hold a number of different exhibitions and performances as well as a great, weekly exhibit for kids, aptly named Powerkids! We've been to a number of these exhibits and they are presented really well and in a way that immediately grabs the attention of the little ones - and the atmosphere is really relaxed and casual so there's no pressure on the kids or the parents! The exhibits change every couple of months or so, but they really get the kids thinking and they really like being able to contribute in a small way! Plus, once you are finished, you can wander straight into New Farm Park for a play! A great day out!

Why we love it: This classic story for all ages is such a fantastic show to see on stage!
Tell me more: There are a few timeless classics that just seem to appeal to every generation, and Alice in Wonderland is definitely one of them! This wonderful story has been adapted into countless movies and live performances and now south east Queensland gets to witness a superb rendition with shows in Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Brisbane!
We were lucky enough to be able to catch a sneak preview of this super fun performance and its fantastic costumes and if this preview performance is anything to go by – this is going to be a very popular show!

What's it all about: It's a festival promoting, maintaining and exposing Tibetan culture through music, food and art!
How can I join in: Check out the website to see the different events and activities scheduled for the week. There are lots of different experiences, some paid and some free, so see what looks best for you and head along!
Tell me more: For 9 years now, Brisbane's Festival of Tibet has been running and opening up Tibetan culture to Brisbane! Through music, conversation, art and food presented at Brisbane Powerhouse, Brisbane's Tibetan community is providing a gateway into their region! We went along to join in and although our little guys couldn't really grasp the concept of meditating (sitting still and being quiet is generally not their thing!), they did have fun checking out the photo gallery and sand mandala, coloured in some really cool mask pages and all while we enjoyed the sounds of Tibet! Have a look to see what's on and try and catch some of the action!
