Where is it: Muller Park Road, Moogerah
Why we love it: It’s a multi-use reservoir – perfect for a summer dip!
Tell me more: An ideal spot for camping and boating, Lake Moogerah is great for a summer picnic and swim! It’s about an hour and a half’s drive south west of Brisbane, so it’s great for a day-trip to escape the city, however it’s probably better known for its camping and boating facilities. We visited the caravan park area which provides great facilities for day-trippers – fees apply for campers but you can get a free pass into the facility as a day trip. The water is fresh and can be a bit muddy but the kids didn’t mind that in the heat of the day – just be sure to stay in the designated swimming areas as it can get quite busy with boats and skiers!
Amenities: As a caravan park they have typical facilities and a small store! 👍👍
Cost: Camping fees apply but it’s free for day trippers! 👍👍👍
Parking: Plenty of room for park, although it’s a very popular spot on summer weekends and holidays! 👍👍👍
Best for: Active kids and families looking for a spot to cool down! 👍👍👍
Summary: This is a great dam for boating and a swim – and it’s close to home! 👍👍👍
Hints: Make sure to stay in the swimming areas – it can be busy out on the water!
