Where is it: Various locations, ‘20/’21 school holidays at Little Stanley St, South Bank
Why we love it: Putt putt with a Pixar theme – what more needs to be said?!
Tell me more: Mini golf has been a family favourite since, well, forever! So add in the theme of one of the most popular family animated franchises of the last 25 years (yes, Pixar movies have been around that long!) you know that it’s going to be a fun event. Work your way through 9 or 18 holes of fantastically modelled scenarios, all based on Pixar movies – The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Brave, Up, Monsters, Inside out, The Good Dinosaur, Cars, Wall-E, Bugs Life, Ratatouille, Coco and new films Soul and Onward are all covered, and Toy Story is very well represented as well! We had so much fun playing with the kids, the holes have some wonderful challenging elements which the little guys loved, and it’s just as much fun for the grown-ups as well. So much so that from Thursday to Saturday after 7pm, Pixar Putt is reserved for the over 18s only. This one is definitely one to check out, but hurry – it’s only here for a limited time, this summer’s season here in Brisbane is finishing up on 7 Feb 2021!

Where is it: Newmarket Village, 95 Enogerra Road, Newmarket
How can I join in: Book online or purchase tickets at the cinema!
Tell me more: We went along to the Opening Night Party at Reading Cinemas Newmarket, a brand new and state of the art cinema! As you would expect from Reading Cinemas, the facilities are excellent - huge screens and the sound was superb! Such a lovely experience to be there for the opening night and we got to see a really sweet family movie - Coco (see our review here)!
With their 8 wall to wall screens, just watching a movie here really becomes an experience! In addition to their premium movie experiences of the Titan Luxe and Gold Lounge, they also have amazing value ticket prices as well as value packed combo deals, which means that you can top up with a little more at the fantastic Candy Bar! A really great cinema experience and a fun outing for families!
Where is it: At cinemas everywhere across Australia from 26 December 2017.
What's it all about: A lovely movie about a little boy chasing his dreams!
Tell me more: Disney Pixar needs no introduction – their movies have pretty much revolutionised people’s expectations when it comes to kids movies! Coco is a very special movie that is set around the theme of Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico! Miguel is a young boy who was born into a family of shoe-makers but despite his family’s ban on music he wants nothing more than to be a musician, and in his journey chasing his dreams he discovers the importance of his family and ancestry!
This was a lovely movie that like a lot of Disney Pixar films, offers great entertainment for the kids and more than enough to engage the parents! The computer-generated graphics and colours are vibrant and the music is spectacular! We went along with our 3 kids – our oldest, at 7, really connected with the storyline and couldn’t stop asking about his ancestry after the movie! Our younger boy who is 4 loved the setting and Miguel’s trusty sidekick – a street-dog named Dante! And even though this was our first time at the cinema with our little 2-year-old – she sat to attention and watched the whole movie – something we weren’t expecting but this movie certainly did grab us as a family! We rate this movie 4.5 out of 5 for families!
Where is it: Mack drives around to different locations – keep an eye out for where they pop up next!
Why we love it: Get to meet the real life Lightning McQueen and Mack and take part in fun Disney Cars activities!
Tell me more: So much fun for your little Cars fans – or even if somehow your kids are not into the Cars franchise! There are heaps of fun activities to get into, obviously you will get to meet Mack and Lightning McQueen, but there are jumping castles, inflatable slides, art and craft – even a scooter race! Your little guys will definitely have an awesome time at the Pit Stop but be aware that Cars is definitely not losing its popularity over the years (the original Cars is over 10 years old now!) – so be prepared to wait a while to get in!
