Yatala Drive-in, Stapylton
Where is it: 100 Jacobs Well Road, Stapylton QLD 4207
What’s it all about: An old-school night out of fun for the whole family!
Tell me more: Once it would be a common pastime to go out to the drive-in theatre – now most of these theatres have closed down and getting along to watch a movie from your car might be a rare experience. Yatala Drive-in (just 30 minute's drive south of the city) has been operating here in the Brisbane area since 1974, and as it’s one of the last operating in the region, it’s well known and still very popular. And it’s still a treat to head along to for the family – just roll up in your car, get comfy and cosy and enjoy the movies! There’s also a fantastic 50s-style diner with traditional drive in foods – hot-dogs, hamburgers, chips, desserts and bucket-loads of popcorn (and not forgetting the classic Aussie snack, Chiko Rolls)!
We checked out Disney’s just released and amazing new re-make of its classic animated film ‘The Lion King’. It’s still much the same amazing and lovely story, music and it’s still animated, but this time it’s in a fashion called ‘photorealistic’, so it looks like a live-action movie and it’s simply amazing! It was the perfect movie for a family night out at the drive-in!
