Where is it: The lawn in front of Old Government House, QUT Garden Point Campus, Brisbane (22 July 2018)
Why we love it: A step back in time for a relaxing weekend garden party!
Tell me more: Held in conjunction with Marion Boyce’s fabulous ‘The Bowerbird and the Bride’ costume display at Old Government House, QUT’s ‘Wedding Garden Party’ is the perfect way to relax the morning away! Aligning with the era of those beautiful costumes in the Bowerbird display (1880s through to 1970s), this garden party was a lovely and fun way to experience some of the fashions and fun of yesteryear! A live band, picnics on the lush green lawns, fantastic wedding-inspired crafts and of course the most magnificent wedding party fashions – including a beautiful parade, all made for a wonderful spectacle, and it proved a hit for our younger generation as well!

Tell me more: Marion Boyce is an award winning Australian costume designer who has a love for traditional fashions, and we are lucky enough to be able to see some of her magnificent collection on display! There are 45 bridal gowns (as well as numerous accessories and trinkets) on display in the beautiful old building known as Old Government House, itself a worthy attraction! Add to that lots of stories, information and anecdotes regarding the dresses and it is definitely a display worthy of a visit!
