Where is it: Roma St Parklands, Brisbane City
What's it all about: Stemming from a celebration of Mexican Independence Day (16 September), the Brisbane Mexican Festival aims to bring a little bit of Mexican culture to the people of Brisbane!
How can I join in: Put on your sombrero and dancing shoes and get ready to get dragged into Mexican spirit! Everyone is welcome and can join in the fun!
Tell me more: There's so much to see, hear and taste at the Brisbane Mexican Festival! Heaps of authentic Mexican food, live mariachi bands and folkloric dancing, piñata breaking and Mexican wrestling - lucha libre and a vibrant crowd make this a really fun festival to attend! As a Mexican Australian family, this festival is really important to us and we love to see the touches of Mexican culture being presented to our city! We had our boys dressed smart in their mariachi suits and our little girl in a traditional Mexican dress - they had heaps of fun, but they couldn't tear themselves away from the piñata breaking! The prospect of smacking something with a stick until lollies came out was just too much for our little guys! A great day out for the whole family, and whether you understand Mexican culture or not, we're sure that you will be swept up in the noisy and fun atmosphere that is thrown up at you when you visit the Brisbane Mexican Festival!
